In 1989, I decided to switch my major at University of California at San Diego from engineering to applied mathematics. There I learned how to program in one of the first CAD programs, Fortran, and Pascal. After I begun teaching middle school computer classes at La Jolla Country Day School, I started programing in Hypercard (and teaching students game design with this language) and made my first couple of math games. This was the beginning of the company: Electric Teaching. I moved to Pacific Northwest area in 1997 to teach mathematics at Seattle Country Day School. From a mentor teacher, Larry Guldberg, I learned the importance of teaching mathematics in a way that helps students understand the underpinnings of the subject and not just memorize formulas and algorithms.
Since 2002, I have been teaching high school at Seattle Academy and blessed with the inspiration and technologic support to not only develop much of what I imagine for my classroom, but to share education with the students in unique methods.
